3 tips on how to beat Corona fatigue

Have you already heard about “Corona fatigue”? Even if not, the chances are “good” that you are already suffering from it. You can find out what it is and how best to combat it in this article.
Prof. Dr. Hannes Zacher, industrial psychologist at the University of Leipzig, describes the problem by saying that news and conversations with friends and acquaintances at home or at work very rarely do not involve the topic of “Corona”.

“A lot of information flows in, but this information doesn't change that much, so there's no variety. And that saps energy.” Prof. Dr. Hannes Zacher, University of Leipzig

The great uncertainty in connection with the further course of the pandemic is leading to psychological and even physical fatigue. There is no miracle cure for this, but there are a number of useful tips on how you can overcome Corona fatigue to some extent.

These are our top 3 tips against corona fatigue

1. Let your priorities define your everyday work and personal life

Priorities, to-do lists and much more often sound very obvious and are admittedly not a groundbreaking concept. However, the question often arises - why some people organize themselves successfully with to-do lists and why it doesn't work for you.

The secret to a good to-do list is to write down small, often easy-to-do things. For example, todos like 'making the bed' can make your start to the day easier and the first tick leads to an immediate reward and then makes it easier to get to work on the bigger todos like finally finishing the 'report for work' write.

2. Reward yourself from time to time

One of the most important tips is not to forget about yourself. Working, doing household chores and looking after the children while working from home can sometimes be very challenging. But if you don't give yourself a break, then you won't be able to support your loved ones either and that's why it's important that you arrange time off for yourself and do it regularly. We recommend setting aside an uncompromising 45 minutes every day for activities that you don't find stressful and that actually give you energy back - such as taking a walk, reading a book or watching your favorite Netflix series.

3. Invest in an ergonomic workstation

We spend around a third of our entire life at work. Last year, this mainly meant that we spent around a third of our time sitting at the kitchen table or on the couch with the laptop on our lap. What is particularly fatal here is the posture, which can not only lead to back pain, but can also lead to poor oxygen supply, which in turn leads to headaches and other symptoms. Our recommendation is clear: invest in an ergonomic workplace. Electrically adjustable desks like these and office chairs like this are best. Especially in the future, you will probably work from your home office one more day a week, which is why you should pay close attention to investing in a robust and long-lasting product.
